We, The Unfamiliar

The series “We, the Unfamiliar” represents an investigation into the relationship between institutional architecture, the collective subject, and artistic materiality. Through a series of Paper Assemblages, iconic buildings that function as structural symbols of Greek political, economic, and cultural reality are deconstructed and returned to their primary, two-dimensional state as geometric templates.

The project addresses the contemporary subject's alienation from dominant institutional frameworks, shifting the focus from the final form to the process of construction. By transforming the architectural model into an open-source conceptual game, the artistic practice delegates the completion of the artwork to the viewer. The tactile process of cutting, folding, and assembling transcends mere technical execution; it becomes a performative act of negotiation with collective memory, historical narratives, and the concept of social cohesion. It was first presented in June 2024 at the PERASMATA performance festival at the Baggeion Hotel, Omonia Square, Athens.
